Tiktok Pancakes – Make pancakes with ice cube tray in advance I am a food blog – univers-japan-shop

Tiktok pancakes are coming to make your breakfast easier.

Ice Tray pancakes are not pre-baked frozen pancakes, they are raw frozen pancake batter that is cooked from frozen. That means a new stack of pancakes with no mixing or cleaning!

I am a breakfast person. I used to skip breakfast regularly, but now that I’m an “adult” I try to eat breakfast every day. It truly IS the most important meal of the day. I usually just eat a slice of toast or something simple, but lately, thanks to Tiktok, I’ve been having daily breakfasts of loads of quick and easy fluffy pancakes.

What are tiktok pancakes?

Frozen pancakes, ice cube pancakes, ice tray pancakes, ice cube pancake hacks, frozen pancakes – whatever you call them, they are all essentially the same. Pour the pancake batter into an ice cube tray (or food tray), freeze it, and boom, you have pancakes in an ice cube tray. You can add mix-ins to the dough or leave it alone, it’s up to you. The amazing part is that the batter comes pre-mixed, portioned, and ready for the pan. That means no measuring, no mixing, and no cleanup. It’s perfect for those days when you’re craving a special breakfast but don’t have the time or inclination to whip up everything you need to make a batch of pancakes.

Frozen pancake batter?

Some people think raw frozen pancake batter is ridiculous, you can’t convince everyone, but I love that almost instantaneous, but still baked look of ice cube pancakes. I love a stack of fresh pancakes and they cook up super cute and little. Sure, it’s true that you can make pancakes and freeze them already cooked, but it’s not the same as freshly cooked.

As for the origin of pancakes in an ice cube tray, I think they’ve been around for a while, at least based on a quick Google search, but I first saw them on Tiktok when I saw this work. Thick and fluffy pancakes caught my eye and the attention of more than 8 million people.

How To Make Tiktok Pancakes

Prepare your favorite pancake recipe

You can use store-bought pancake mix or use your favorite pancake recipe. I like to use my easy Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes recipe. It is a cup of flour mixed with 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. After mixing this in a bowl, you beat one egg with 1 cup of the buttermilk and then add it to the dry mix. Stir to combine – this batter is nice and thick, which means very fluffy pancakes.

Pour the pancake batter into an ice cube tray.

Once your pancake batter is ready, all you have to do is pour it into clean ice cube trays. The smaller your ice cubes, the smaller your pancakes will be, so be sure to use an ice cube tray that is the right size for the size you want your pancakes to be.

accessories

If desired, now is the time to add mix-ins to your pancakes. Make sure that what you add is small enough to fit in the ice cube trays. You can make fruit (berries, bananas, apples), sprinkles (for funfetti pancakes!), nuts (chopped pecans, almonds, walnuts, pistachios), chocolate, or spices like cinnamon or pumpkin spice. Simply drop the batters onto the pancake batter, as you cook the pancakes the batters will nestle smoothly into the pancakes.

freeze pancakes

Once the pancake batter (and mix-ins, if any) are ready in the ice cube trays, it’s time to freeze. Just freeze them in the freezer until solid. After that you can either leave them on the trays or take them out and place them in freezer bags/freezer containers. I just like to take them out and put them in a container.

Cook pancakes as needed

When you need a quick pancake fix, heat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Add some butter or oil and a frozen slab of ice cubes straight from the freezer. Cook, over low heat, until the crepe is melted, cooked through, and beginning to bubble around the edges, about 2 to 3 minutes depending on size. When the edges are taken, flip the crepe over and cook the other side until golden brown, enjoy with butter and syrup!

Which Tiktok Pancake Ice Cube Tray?

In truth, you can use any ice tray you have at home, but the best ice tray you can use is a silicone ice tray. They come in many sizes and it is very easy to push out pancakes. I like to use the silicone molds that I use for hot chocolate bombs because I have some and they are round like pancakes.

Tips and Tricks for Tiktok Pancakes

  • Use a liquid measuring cup Pour pancake batter into ice cube tray/mold.
  • Chop your fruits or nuts so they are small enough to fit inside each individual ice bucket.
  • mini chocolate chips they work better than large chocolate chips.
  • Ice cube tray of any size or the mold will work – the regular size ice cube trays will make cute little pancakes and the larger ice cube trays will make regular standard size pancakes.
  • Baking an ice cube tray pancakes on low heat to give them plenty of time to melt and cook.

The key to knowing when it’s time to flip a pancake is to wait for it to bubble. Once the edges start to look solid and firm, small bubbles will rise, both around the edges and closer to the center of the pancake. When you see the bubbles, take a look under it and if it’s golden, it’s time to flip.

How long do Tiktok pancakes keep in the freezer?

They are best the first month you freeze them, but you can freeze them for up to three months.
