Obiage are used to wrap a makura, a makura is a padded form used to give various types of obi structure and shape when worn. Obiage can come in a wide range of styles, colours, materials and designs and can instantly change the look of any kimono ensemble it is worn with. When not used to dress traditional kimonos, obiage are also popular as dressy scarves.
